If you or a loved one suffers from Obstructive Sleep Apnea, then you know that the commonly prescribed treatment is the use of a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy machine. However, many people have difficulty tolerating the discomfort of CPAP machines. We offer an alternative sleep apnea treatment known as oral appliance therapy. This treatment is also referred to as a sleep apnea dental device.
Oral appliances are by far the least invasive treatment option for sleep apnea. In most cases, they are covered by medical insurance. They are quickly becoming the first choice of treatment for mild to moderate sleep apnea. Oral appliance therapy involves the selection, fitting and use of an individualized appliance to hold the jaw forward and maintain an open airway during sleep. The US Department of Health reports that 80% of current sleep apnea patients prefer an oral appliance to the CPAP sleep apnea treatment.
